Goverance

The Foundation for Independent Living is currently governed by an eleven member board of directors that includes the Foundation president.

Board of Directors

The board sets policies related to spending, investment, management, governance and professional standards, and it oversees internal and independent audits. It also sets the compensation of the president and other foundation officers and reviews their performance.

The five elected officers of the Mountain State Centers for Independent Living Executive Committee also serve as members of the Foundation's board of directors.

The president/CEO of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living serves as the president/CEO of the Foundation for Independent Living.

The governance practices of the Foundation are described in a set of documents, including Articles of Incorporation and bylaws, adopted by the board of directors.

The foundation and the activities of its directors and staff members are governed by the following documents:

Charter/Articles of Incorporation which describes the purposes for which the foundation was organized.
Bylaws, which includes rules governing the Foundation's operations relating to the board of directors.

Policy and Procedure Documents

Personnel Policy: Sets policy for staff and administration of the Foundation.
Desk Manual: Provides instructions for completing all administrative forms and daily operation procedures.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) corporation. Print a copy of the IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter.
