The Foundation for Independent Living is currently governed by an eleven member board of directors that includes the Foundation president.
The board sets policies related to spending, investment, management, governance and professional standards, and it oversees internal and independent audits. It also sets the compensation of the president and other foundation officers and reviews their performance.
The five elected officers of the Mountain State Centers for Independent Living Executive Committee also serve as members of the Foundation's board of directors.
The president/CEO of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living serves as the president/CEO of the Foundation for Independent Living.
The governance practices of the Foundation are described in a set of documents, including Articles of Incorporation and bylaws, adopted by the board of directors.
