The Foundation for Independent Living is dedicated to supporting independent living for people with disabilities.
Independent living for people with disabilities is defined as: participating in day-to-day life, living where you choose and making decisions that lead to self-determination over all aspects of one's own life, including control over supports and services received.
Established in 1992 as the fund raising arm of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living, the Foundation for Independent Living is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
The Foundation supports independent living through resource development and fundraising on behalf of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living. Learn more about Mountain State Centers for Independent Living.
Along with fundraising activities, the Foundation relies on grants and donations from individuals and businesses to fund and support our programs.
In response to the bombing on April 15, 2013 at the Boston Marathon, the Foundation for Independent Living has established a Marathon Victims Fund. Ten percent (10%) of all proceeds of the Walk for Independence 2013 will go to this fund. Learn more about the fund and how to donate.
The Foundation for Independent Living is actively recruiting board members who would be willing to volunteer their fundraising and resource development skills on behalf of people with disabilities. Learn more.
